What is the communication distance of a walkie-talkie❓

Jun 06,2025 | jianpai radio

In fact, the communication distance is not fixed. It is affected by many factors. It is not that the merchant says 🔟km can really be 🔟km‼ ️

Several key factors affecting the distance of walkie-talkies:

1️⃣Power
The greater the power, the longer the distance in theory
Generally, civilian walkie-talkies are ❷-❺W, and professional ones can reach more than ❶⓪W

2️⃣Usage environment
Open areas (such as the seaside and mountains): up to ❺-❶⓪k.m

3️⃣Urban areas (many high-rise buildings)
Generally ❶-❸k.m, or even shorter

4️⃣Mountainous areas/forests (many trees, complex terrain)
May be only a few hundred meters

5️⃣Antenna
Long antennas have stronger signals than short antennas, and some can also be connected to external booster antennas

6️⃣Frequency
UHF (Ultra High Frequency) has strong penetration and is suitable for cities; VHF (Very High Frequency) has long transmission and is suitable for outdoor use

7️⃣Weather
The signal may be affected on thunderstorm days

Choose a walkie-talkie based on your needs~
Camping/hiking/mountaineering: choose ❺W or above, the signal is more stable
Construction sites/shopping malls/daily use: a small model of about ❸W is enough
Fleet/self-driving: It is recommended to have a car antenna with a longer coverage
Ultra-long distance (national intercom): public network intercom, use it wherever there is a signal, truly "no distance limit" (want to know more 🉑📪me)
